HISTORYEvent: Enron files for bankruptcyDate: December 2, 2001Description: Enron was an Energy-Trading super company that went bankrupt out of the blue. This business, once worth $70 billion dollars, was surrounded by scandal and embezzlement. The fall of Enron would be the largest bankruptcy scandal at the time and in American history as a whole. In the years leading up to its demise, many executives were arrested on various charges. This includes Enron’s auditor, Arthur Anderson, who was arrested for illegally destroying documents. As the company was falling, the higher ups encouraged employees to invest in stocks, assuring them that the company would bounce back. Unfortunately, Enron died along with the careers of 4,000 people. Lady Liberty was created to honor the friendship and alliance between France and the United states. France wanted to give a gift to the US for its hundredth birthday, so Frederic Auguste Bartholdi designed a statue. The actual construction did not start until 1876 because it was a very expensive project that both sides had to raise money for. after ten years, Bartholdi built and designed the Statue of Liberty with the help of Eugene Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc, Richard Morris Hunt and Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, who would go on to create the Eiffel tower a year later.  In 1886, President Grover Cleveland formally dedicated the Statue of Liberty. Beekeepers in the United States lost 44 percent of their colonies since 2014. In 2015, the White House started to plant bee-friendly gardens around their federal offices, and the USDA has set aside $3 million to help the beekeepers.
