Giza Pyramids – The
Surrounding Theories

The last standing of the seven wonders of the
historical world, the highly regarded pyramids of Giza are perhaps the most
well-known and talked about structures in history pages. Those huge monuments
have been unsurpassed in height for years to come even long after their creation, and solely to retain their places as a wonder and
enigma to everyone who cared to look into it; for it amazes and enthrals everyone with their
overwhelming mass, structural design and geometrical perfection. The reality of
their build, coupled with their astounding edifice drew out many theories about their origins so much that
some people, after different thought process – ad
infinitum, resorted to the fact that they could only have been built by aliens.

            In
any case, by carefully examining the prehistoric magnificence, from the fact
obvious fact that for the construction of the pyramid with
the concept that large stones
were broken down and carved with copper chisels from stone quarries and rocks,
and carried by carts and slaves or builders, who subsequently dragged and
lifted them into position; there just had to be a theory, an idea that laid behind building the pyramids.

            You
can greatly tell that they were borne out of ceaseless scientific experiments
which by the time and age we are currently in – with the technological advancements
now, it
somewhat sets our civil
engineering now to
be that of the ancients with the apparent technicality of the architecture
predating that of our time. And from therewith, has different
theories sprung up all in the attempt to explain how the ancient Egyptians were
able to accomplish such feats or what they seemed to know that the other ancients
in their era didn’t.

The Orion Correlation Theory is a theory
hypothesised Robert Bauval. In his theory, the whole idea of the
pyramids’ construction was that it was laid on the concept that they were
created as a part of a whole; the whole being the ‘master plan’ and that it was constructed to map out some key constellations
on the ground. This theory was well elaborated in his book The Orion theory, he added, stating that the concept of the three
pyramids at Giza followed a plan to align together with the three vibrant stars
in the constellation of the orion’s belt: mintaka, alnitak and alnilam.

            Due
to the enigmatic nature of the questions; how were the pyramids built? An engineer called Peter James came up with his own
theory in attempt to quench
the curiosity thirst of those who asked. His theory came to contradict the
already standing conventional beliefs that the pyramids were
built by tens of thousands of workers who pulled enormous number of stones all
the way the slopes down/up to where they were actually needed. Peter James
however claimed that all that would be totally impossible. His theory
postulated that contrary to the old beliefs by archeology, the pyramid was
built from inside out all from a large mountain – rubbles, rather than the
other way round – multiple stones placed carefully on each other – unlike as
normally believed.

            In
the book titled On
Pyramid Building, by Martin Isler, he posited that the theory that
made use of levers was implemented to lift pyramid stones from the quarries and
placed to build the pyramids and is what is to be believed as to be the only
reliable theory.

INTERNAL RAMP THEORY is another theory that was
developed by a French architect –
Jean-Pierre Houdin in attempt to create a perfect theory that was used to
construct the pyramids. The idea entailed using an everyday external ramp to
build the primary 30 per cent of the pyramid, with an “internal ramp”
taking stones up beyond that top.

Through all the brainstorming, there is however a fact
that still remains; it is that the pyramids were made as tombs, some people say
shrines – worship places for noble family members. Without a contender, the
pyramids at Giza remains a wonder to behold.
